Parish Statements

Mission Statement

We, the members of St. Paul Parish, Vicksburg, Mississippi, believe that through baptism and reception of the Holy Spirit, we have been called as a people of God to more closely follow the words and examples of Jesus.

We place our complete trust in His message that we are members of one family in Him, and that we are charged to bear witness to our brothers and sister that through Jesus all things are made new.

We cherish the dignity and right to life of all persons, and strive to seek the better good of all the members of the family of God.

We commit ourselves to more closely follow his command to love and forgive those who harm us, to work for justice among our less fortunate, and to invite all people to join with us in striving for salvation.

Directional Statement

We shall strive to live our parish mission statement by renewing our baptismal commitments to ourselves, to our community of worshippers, and to the Church by:

More fully participating in daily and weekly liturgy, including more frequent reception of the holy sacraments;

continuing to foster growth and understanding of God's word through an increased involvement in study and sharing groups, through participating in volunteer organizations at our schools, and through our increased responsiveness to the outspoken needs of our parish;

contributing our time and talents to parish and community programs which serve the needs of our fellow members of Christ's body;

teaching and nurturing the youth about our faith, and caring and providing for the elderly of our parish and community.

We will ever strive to grow in the love of Christ by living our lives as examples of the love He bears for His Church. As a parish community, we pledge our support to each other in responding to Jesus' call to follow Him.
